Cystic Circus
A monster that fits the Cosmic-Horror genre. The idea was to make space worms that steal body parts and try to form a body made from cystic tissue. The name is a play-on-words from "Cysticercus." A real medical issue happens when parasitic worms create cysts in humans to protect from the bodies' defenses to live, eat, and procreate. The torso of the monster isn't human at all, but a cyst that is formed from the inside by worms trying to imitate what they think a human looks like. Imagine this creature roaming the streets, pretending to be one of us. If you react adversely, it will know it isn't complete and might need to use some of you to become whole. Maybe just ignore it and you might survive.
Breakdown & Process
Cystic Circus went from a notebook doodle to a detailed 3D model. Much inspiration came from my phobia of parasitic worms and cosmic horror monsters like the ones from Dead Space and Alien. This model was made entirely in Zbrush and rendered in Keyshot. The topology isn't the nicest because the model was made experimenting with dynamesh. This was one of my earlier models where there was much to still learn. The texturing was also done in Zbrush using different brushes and alphas to get unique details and colors. This is one piece I would love to recreate in the future and hopefully make a lot more...disgusting.
